Coco’s Cantina’s Mediterranean-slanted menu, affable service, quirky-cool decor and general buzz of excitement conspire to make you feel you’ve stumbled across a back-street haunt in Rome, albeit one where the customers are all truncating their vowels. They don’t take bookings, so you may have to wait a while, but the bar’s a cheerful place to perch and peruse the interesting wine list if you can nab a seat. And Coco’s a busy lady these days – the clever Coulter sisters, Renee and Damaris, have recently opened Coco’s Barretta next door to the mother ship, thus giving their hordes of fans another very pleasant room in which to nurse a drink while waiting for a table. The Cantina’s service is fast and friendly, while generous portions of dishes such as the signature spaghetti with meatballs; broad bean and mozzarella bruschetta; and an excellent rendition of tiramisu, will win over young and old alike.
